After 35 years of marriage, Bob suddenly walked into the living room dragging a suitcase behind him.
His wife looked up from the couch.
“Where are you going, honey?”
Bob sighed dramatically.
“That’s it. I’m done. I’ve been underappreciated for years, and I’m leaving!”
His wife immediately burst into tears.
“No! You can’t leave! What about the house? The cabin? The truck?”
“The kids can have them,” Bob said.
“And your fishing boat? Your retirement account? Your precious BBQ smoker?”
“Split everything between the kids.”
His wife was now completely panicking.
“What about your vintage Mustang?”
“Give it to our son.”
She stared at him for a moment.
“And… what about me?”
Bob stopped at the front door.
“You’ll be fine.”
His wife suddenly stopped crying.
She smiled.
Then she calmly walked into the kitchen and returned holding a small handwritten note.
“Before you go, Bob…”
“You might want to know that I won the Powerball yesterday.”
Bob slowly put his suitcase back on the floor.
He cleared his throat.
“Well… marriage is about working through difficult times together, right?”
His wife burst out laughing.
“Too late.”
Bob froze.
“The ticket is in my sister’s name.”
Bob stared at her in disbelief.
She smiled sweetly.
“And just so you know…”
“You’re still underappreciated.”
Apparently, that’s how Bob spent the next six months asking just one question:
“Can I at least keep the BBQ smoker?”
