One Confession the Priest Never Expected
One Sunday morning, a man quietly walked into his local church and stepped into the confessional.
“Forgive me, Father,” he said softly. “I have sinned.”
The priest replied, “Tell me, my son. What have you done?”
The man lowered his head.
Man: “Father, I have stolen someone’s bicycle… and I’ve come to give it to you.”
The priest sighed but remained calm.
“No, no. Don’t give it to me. Return it to the person you stole it from, and ask for forgiveness, and God will forgive you.”
The man nodded.
“I already tried that, Father.”
“You did?”
“Yes. I offered the bicycle back… but he said he didn’t want it.”
The priest smiled warmly.
“Well, if the owner truly refused to take it back, then you’ve done your part. Keep the bicycle, live honestly from now on, and may God be with you.”
“Thank you, Father.”
The man gratefully left the church.
A little later, after the day’s services had ended, the priest walked outside.
He looked around.
Then looked again.
His bicycle was gone.
