My son complained the other day, “Dad, life is way harder now! Things were so much easier when you were a kid.”
So, I confiscated his smartphone and handed him a dusty stack of books from my office shelf.
He stared at them in horror. “What is this?”
“Those,” I smiled, “are Siri and Alexa’s ancestors. The dictionary and encyclopedia are your Google. The Yellow Pages is your contact list. And that big, heavy road atlas is your Google Maps.
Oh, and let me know if any of them talk back to you… because they never did to me!”
