Little Billy was at home doing his math homework.
As he worked, he muttered to himself,
“Two plus five, that son of a b*tch is seven. Three plus six, that son of a b*tch is nine.”
Just then, his mother walked into the room and overheard him.
“Billy! What are you doing? Why are you talking like that?” she asked.
Little Billy replied,
“I’m doing my math homework, Mom.”
His mother frowned.
“And is that what your teacher taught you to say?”
“Yes,” Billy answered.
The next day, concerned about the kind of education her son was receiving, Billy’s mother went to his
school to speak with his math teacher.
She asked,
“I’d like to know exactly what you’re teaching my son in math class.”
The teacher replied,
“Right now, we’re working on addition problems.”
Billy’s mother said,
“And are you teaching them to say, ‘Two plus two, that son of a b*tch is four’?”
When the teacher stopped laughing, she replied,
“Not at all! What I taught them was, ‘Two plus two, THE SUM OF WHICh IS four.’”
