King Charles will ‘only listen to one person’ as he’s urged to rest after hospital visit

King Charles likely enjoyed a much-needed restful weekend following a demanding week filled with royal duties.

In addition to attending numerous official engagements, the monarch made a brief visit to the hospital due to side effects from his ongoing can.cer treatment.

Although his hospital stay was only for a short period of observation, those close to him reportedly urged him to take it easy and prioritize rest. However, slowing down is not something that comes naturally to Charles, who has long been known for his relentless work ethic. Throughout his life, he has gained a reputation for working late into the night, often burning the midnight oil and even dozing off at his desk due to sheer exhaustion.

Royal author and commentator Phil Dampier emphasized the importance of the King taking better care of his health, especially given his recent medical challenges.

Speaking to “The Sun“, Dampier noted that while Charles is accustomed to maintaining a rigorous schedule, his current condition requires him to adjust his approach.

“King Charles has always been an incredibly hardworking individual, known for pushing himself to the limit,” Dampier explained. “But those days must now be behind him. He needs to put his health first and reduce his workload.”

However, convincing the King to take a step back is no easy task.

Dampier pointed out that the only person who seems to have any real influence over Charles in this regard is his wife, Queen Camilla.

“He needs to pace himself, but as Queen Camilla has admitted, he is terrible at doing so,” Dampier continued. “She is probably the only one he will truly listen to when it comes to slowing down.”

Even with Camilla’s influence, getting Charles to follow advice has proven to be challenging. In fact, the Queen herself previously revealed that her husband has a stubborn streak when it comes to taking care of himself.

In 2023, while speaking with author Lee Child, Queen Camilla openly admitted that Charles “won’t slow down and won’t do what he’s told,” highlighting his resistance to easing his workload despite concerns from those around him.

This determination was evident last year when the King insisted on proceeding with his planned autumn tour of Australia and Samoa, albeit on a slightly reduced schedule.

Even with his ongoing can.cer treatment, Charles paused his medical regimen for the trip after receiving approval from his doctors, underscoring his deep commitment to fulfilling his royal responsibilities.

While his dedication to duty is commendable, many believe that for the sake of his long-term well-being, the King must learn to strike a better balance between work and health, something that remains easier said than done.
