There was a time I would stand in the kitchen, staring at the fridge… and completely forget what I came for. My keys, my glasses, the TV remote — I kept misplacing everything.
Then I made a few small changes — and to my surprise, my memory changed too.
🌿 1. A 20-minute walk every morning.
I thought it was just for the legs, but it turns out the brain wakes up too. As I walk, old songs come back, little memories bubble up. Our minds need movement just like our bodies.
📖 2. Read — slowly.
Every day, I read a few pages of a book, sometimes just an old newspaper. But I read slowly, and write down one or two interesting things. Like chewing food well, we should also “chew” what we read.
🧩 3. Play brain games.
Crosswords, Sudoku, even guessing lyrics from old songs… Fun to play, great for memory.
💬 4. Talk more.
Call an old friend. Tell a story to a grandchild. The more we share, the more we remember. Memory is something that grows stronger with use.
🌼 5. Laugh.
It may sound odd, but laughter helps the brain relax, brings in more oxygen, and reduces stress. And stress? That’s memory’s worst enemy.
