Donald Trump has once again become the target of online ridicule—this time, not for his words or actions, but for what appeared on the lock screen of his phone during a recent press conference.
The moment occurred during a media briefing on May 31, when sharp-eyed viewers noticed something peculiar: the former president’s phone lock screen displayed a photo of none other than himself.
While Trump didn’t do anything overtly controversial during the press event, the visible phone screen quickly stole the spotlight, and the internet had a field day.
Political commentator Harry Sisson took to TikTok to highlight the moment, asking viewers, “Can you guess whose photo Trump has as his lock screen? If you guessed himself, you’re absolutely right.”
Sisson claimed the image looked like an AI-enhanced campaign shot from Trump’s most recent presidential run. What might seem like a confident or branding-savvy choice to some was quickly branded as egotistical by others.
“You know how narcissistic you have to be to make yourself the wallpaper on your own phone?” Sisson commented. “Most people would have pictures of their kids, partner, or family—but not Trump. In his world, it’s always about him.”
Sisson also suggested this wasn’t an isolated example of Trump’s self-admiration.
“He clearly enjoys looking at himself—it’s kind of unsettling,” he added.
The post sparked a storm of reactions online. Sisson’s TikTok has garnered over 71,000 likes and thousands of comments, many expressing shock and amusement.
One user quipped, “Peak narcissism right there.”
Another joked, “Imagine him Googling the photo and saving it. Hilarious.”
A third compared it to something out of a vanity project: “It’s like having a giant painting of yourself in your living room—super weird.”
Still, not everyone saw it as a big deal. A few commenters defended Trump, saying it’s not uncommon to have a personal photo as your lock screen. “So? I have my own selfie on my phone too,” one person wrote.
Meanwhile, this lock screen fuss may be the least of Trump’s concerns. Recently, Elon Musk announced his departure from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a role he held under Trump for 130 days.
Trump acknowledged Musk’s exit on his platform Truth Social, stating warmly, “This will be his last day, but not really, because he will always be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific!”
Even as political events unfold, it’s often the smallest details—like a phone lock screen—that stir the biggest online reactions.
