A foreign tourist arrives in a new country and hops into a taxi heading toward his hotel.
As they drive through the city, he points excitedly at a tall building and asks,
“How long did it take to build that?”
The driver replies calmly, “Two years.”
The tourist immediately laughs.
“Two years? In my country, that would’ve taken only two months.”
They continue driving.
After a while, he points at another, even taller building.
“And that one? How long did it take?”
“Three years,” the driver answers.
The tourist shakes his head.
“Three years! In my country, that would’ve been done in one year.”
The taxi keeps moving through the city.
A few minutes later, he points again at an even more impressive structure.
“And that one?”
The driver replies, slightly more serious now, “One month.”
The tourist smirks.
“One month? In my country, that would take just 15 days.”
They drive on in silence for a moment.
Then they pass by the country’s most famous and tallest building.
The tourist leans forward, curious as ever.
“And how long did it take to build that one?”
The driver lets out a long sigh and says,
“How do I even explain this…”
The tourist frowns.
“Explain what?”
The driver glances at him and says calmly:
“When I drove past this morning on my way to the airport… there was no building there.”
