One morning, my teacher asked the class,
“Children, what’s your favorite animal?”
Without thinking, I proudly answered,
“Fried chicken.”
She frowned.
“That’s not an animal, and it isn’t funny.”
Maybe she didn’t think it was funny…
But the entire class burst out laughing.
When I got home, I told my dad what had happened.
He nodded knowingly and said,
“Your teacher is probably one of those people who really loves animals.”
I shrugged.
“So do I.”
“Especially chicken… pork… and beef.”
The next day, my teacher decided to be more specific.
“Fine… what’s your favorite living animal?”
I smiled.
“Chicken.”
She sighed.
“And why is that?”
I answered,
“Because it turns into fried chicken.”
Straight back to the principal’s office.
The principal couldn’t stop laughing.
He told me,
“Please… don’t say that again.”
A few days later, my teacher tried one last question.
“Tell me… which famous military leader do you admire the most?”
I answered without hesitation.
“Colonel Sanders.”
Let’s just say…
The principal was expecting me this time. 😂
