A family brought their frail, elderly mother to a high-end nursing home, hoping she would be well looked after.
The next morning, the staff bathed her, fed her a delicious breakfast, and seated her in a comfortable armchair right by a large window overlooking a beautiful flower garden.
Everything seemed fine, but after a few minutes, the old woman slowly began to tilt over to the left. Two attentive nurses immediately rushed over, caught her, and propped her back up straight.
A little while later, she began to lean heavily over to the right side. Once again, the nurses ran over and adjusted her back into an upright position. This constant cycle of tilting and straightening went on all morning.
In the afternoon, the family arrived to see how she was settling in. “So, Ma, how do you like it here? Are they taking good care of you?”
The mother sighed, shrugged her shoulders, and replied, “Well, the place is lovely and the food is great… but they absolutely won’t let you fart.”
